A full moon rising over the back pasture at Moonlight Mountain Escape, with a telescope set up for stargazing — log cabin near Black Mountain, NC

Come be in the woods for a few days.

A two-story log cabin near Black Mountain, NC. Sleeps 7.

Moonlight is a two-story log cabin tucked into eight acres of woods, twenty minutes from downtown Black Mountain and thirty from Asheville. It sleeps seven, has a hot tub on the deck, a wood stove inside, a fire pit out back, a record player downstairs, and a telescope for the nights you want to find Saturn.

The kitchen is stocked enough that you could actually cook a real dinner here. There's a creek trail walkabout on the property. There's a scavenger hunt waiting for you (we mean it).

That's the cabin. The rest is detail.

What you won't find here

A short, honest list:

Cell service is spotty for some carriers — there's WiFi calling, and a house phone if you really need a line.

No housekeeping during your stay.

No grocery delivery directly to the cabin. Use the Ingles in town, or the Black Mountain Tailgate Market on Saturdays (May–October).

No party-house energy. We have mountain neighbors at a polite distance and we'd like to keep them friendly. Drive slowly on the way in.

Cats are not permitted (severe owner allergies). Dogs are very welcome.

Bears are common in WNC. Don't leave food or trash out overnight.

How to get here

About eight minutes from I-40, twenty minutes from downtown Black Mountain, thirty from downtown Asheville. The last 1.5 miles is a maintained gravel road — well-maintained but narrow in spots. AWD or 4WD is required November through February due to snow and ice.

Detailed driving directions and the gate code go out 48 hours before check-in.

House rules in 30 seconds
