We are grateful this cabin remained untouched by Hurricane Helene, though our community experienced significant devastation.
After Hurricane Helene, this neighborhood came together and immediately began to organize a supply hub at the bottom of the road that would become critical to the surrounding rural area. They fed people hot meals, provided safe drinking water, checked on each other, organized helicopter rescues and supply drops, helped distribute food and other essentials to people cut off —all without power, internet or cell service. Their response was nothing short of extraordinary.
As the area continues to work on recovery, the Moonlight team has been volunteering, bringing in supplies, working to distribute essentials to people in need, and mucking out flooded homes in areas like Chimney Rock and Swannanoa, so those families can begin to rebuild.
